Job summary

E Tech Group is seeking a Controls Engineer to design, implement, test and startup automation solutions for metals industry applications. This onsite role is in Portage, IN with a 3pm-11pm or 11pm-7am shift, working with project managers and engineering teams to deliver high-value control systems.

You will specify hardware, develop system architecture, test functionality, mentor junior engineers, and support sales with technical solutions while upholding our core values and client success.

Qualifications

• BS Engineering degree or equivalent
• 3+ years of experience with AC or DC motors and drives, PLCs, and HMIs
• Industrial automation experience
• Working knowledge and experience with PLC, VSD, and SCADA systems
• Strong software and data communication problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Lead field start-up testing of electrical and programmed control systems, drive setup, installation inspection, operational readiness testing, and site acceptance testing
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• DNA comprised of collaboration and teamwork

Responsibilities

• Design and implement automation and control systems for metals industry applications
• Collaborate with engineering and other support teams to ensure successful project completion
• Responsible for aspects of project budget and schedule requirements
• Assist in the development and maintenance of standards and best practices
• Develop overall system and communication architecture for industrial control projects
• Specify and configure various hardware components such as AC/DC drives, switchgear and industrial control panels
• Perform functional testing of electrical and control systems
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers
• Generate functional requirements documentation and test procedures
• Support the sales team in the development of technical solutions
