Job summary

Barry-Wehmiller’s Design Group is seeking a Controls Engineer to join a top system integrator with a strong Rockwell presence. You will design, configure, and commission automation solutions for world‑class manufacturing clients, collaborating with engineering, vendors, and clients to deliver reliable control systems.

You will work on PLC/SCADA projects, develop design documentation, and contribute to siting, start‑ups, and project turnovers while traveling as needed.

Qualifications

• Three+ years as controls engineer in automated manufacturing environment.
• Proficient in control systems design, troubleshooting, and high‑intensity settings.
• Experience designing automation controls (PLC, SCADA) and instrumentation know‑how.
• Strong understanding of electrical power distribution and control panel design.
• Excellent written and verbal technical communication; capable of reports and presentations.

Responsibilities

• Support capital projects and implement automation solutions for clients.
• Develop design specifications, software configuration, testing, and commissioning of automated processes.
• Design automation control systems and create project docs to meet client specs.
• Diagnose automation problems and interface with teams, clients, and vendors.
• Program PLCs (Allen‑Bradley/Rockwell) and HMI/SCADA systems; ensure successful turnover to customers.
• Manage project deliverables, site startup, and project scope adherence.
