Job summary

Thermo Systems is seeking a Controls Engineer III to lead design, integration, and delivery of automation projects across industrial environments. You will guide tasks from design through commissioning, working with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure safe, reliable systems.

This role emphasizes hands-on leadership, PLC and HMI development, FAT testing, and collaboration with customers. Travel up to 50% is required, and a Bachelor’s in engineering is expected for this

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline.
• Typically 4+ years of experience in industrial automation, controls engineering, or system integration environments.
• Demonstrated experience leading engineering tasks or small project scopes.

Responsibilities

• Lead start-up and commissioning of control systems.
• Lead FAT (Factory Acceptance Tests) for automation systems.
• Interpret P&IDs and electrical schematics; review field wiring diagrams.
• Develop and implement HMI and PLC-based automation solutions.
• Contribute to design and implementation of complex control systems.
• Provide instrumentation specifications for automation and control system designs.
• Review technical documentation for accuracy and quality.
• Deliver assigned engineering tasks on time and within scope.
• Identify technical challenges and develop proactive solutions.
