Job summary

Thermo Systems LLC is seeking a Controls Engineer III to join our global automation team in a field-based role with up to 50% travel. You will lead initialization, testing, and commissioning of control systems, and provide engineering expertise across design to commissioning phases.

You will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and technicians to ensure safe, reliable delivery and alignment with project requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline.
• Typically 4+ years of experience in industrial automation, controls engineering, or system integration environments.
• Demonstrated experience leading engineering tasks or small project scopes.

Responsibilities

• Lead start-up and commissioning of control systems.
• Lead and perform FAT for automation systems.
• Interpret P&IDs and electrical schematics and diagrams; provide field feedback.
• Develop and implement HMI and PLC-based automation solutions.
• Contribute to design and implementation of complex control systems.
• Provide instrumentation specifications for automation and control system designs.
• Review technical documentation for accuracy and quality.
• Deliver assigned engineering tasks on schedule and within scope.
• Identify technical challenges and develop solutions proactively.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and commissioning teams.
• Communicate clearly with customers and trade partners throughout lifecycles.
• Serve as primary customer contact for assigned projects.
• Provide updates on progress, risks and challenges to leadership.
• Develop and maintain relationships with customers and stakeholders.
