Job summary

ICON Technology in Austin, TX is seeking a Controls Engineer II in Engineering Services to design, maintain diagnostic infrastructure, and develop tools for predictive maintenance across the fleet. You will act as escalation point for complex controls failures, work with Field Engineering and customer teams, and help move the fleet toward condition-based service with data-driven insights.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, control systems engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in industrial automation or control systems.
• Strong working knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, SCADA and control network protocols.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose hardware, software and communication issues in control systems.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and standards for industrial control systems.
• Excellent communication and customer-facing skills; ability to manage customer expectations and document resolutions.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve complex issues involving PLCs, HMIs, SCADA and industrial communication protocols.
• Identify and report design, reliability and maintenance problems to design and software engineering teams.
• Assist with control system networking and integration with enterprise systems; collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and IT teams.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting when first-line support cannot isolate problems.
• Develop and deliver training for the Field Engineering team on control system operation, maintenance, and configuration.
• Serve as technical liaison to customers and deliver remote training; produce technical notes and guides.
• Ensure control systems comply with safety standards (OSHA, NFPA, IEC).
• Update knowledge base and share insights with global support teams.
