Job summary

ICON is seeking a Controls Engineer II, Engineering Services at its headquarters in Austin, TX, reporting to the Director of Engineering Services. You will design diagnostics, build tools, and develop predictive maintenance models to move from reactive to condition-based service.

In this role you will escalate complex failures, support Field Engineering, and act as a technical authority for customers. A strong background in PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and industrial communication is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in industrial automation or control systems support.
  • Strong ability to diagnose hardware, software and communication issues in control systems.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and standards for industrial control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues involving PLCs, HMIs, SCADA and industrial protocols.
  • Identify and report design, reliability and maintenance problems to design and software teams.
  • Assist with control system networking and integration with enterprise systems.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting when first-line support cannot resolve issues.
  • Develop and deliver training for Field Engineering on control systems and create guides.
  • Serve as a technical liaison to customers for operation, maintenance and configuration guidance.
  • Ensure control systems comply with OSHA, NFPA, IEC standards.
  • Update knowledge base articles and share insights with global support teams.
