Job summary

ICON is seeking a Senior Controls and Automation Technician in Austin, TX to develop, maintain, and troubleshoot the fleet's control systems on site and in ICON facilities. You will write PLC logic, commission automation, diagnose failures from the field to the PLC, and build operator and technician documentation for independent work.

The role involves field travel, dynamic environments, and direct ownership of the controls infrastructure to keep Titan and Vulcan running reliably.

Qualifications

4+ years of hands‑on experience with industrial automation or electromechanical systems.
Ability to troubleshoot controls across electrical systems (24VDC, sensors, relays, VFDs/servos, encoders).
Experience with at least one PLC platform (Beckhoff, Rockwell, Siemens, Codesys) or equivalent.
Familiarity with industrial networks and basic troubleshooting.
Ability to read electrical schematics and update documentation.

Responsibilities

Develop and refine PLC logic, HMI screens, alarms, interlocks, and automation sequences.
Create and maintain controls documentation (I/O lists, diagrams, baselines, checklists, SOPs).
Diagnose controls failures using logs, fault codes, instrumentation, and structured troubleshooting.
Integrate, test, and validate sensors, actuators, drives, and safety systems.
Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions; document findings.
