Job summary

ICON's Controls Engineer II in Engineering Services designs and maintains diagnostic infrastructure, builds troubleshooting tools, telemetry dashboards, and data-driven predictive maintenance models that move the fleet toward condition-based service.

This role serves as the escalation point for complex controls failures and is the technical authority others turn to when standard support cannot resolve issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, control systems engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years in industrial automation or control systems support.
  • Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, SCADA and control network protocols.
  • Ability to diagnose hardware, software and communication issues.

Responsibilities

  • Design feedback and escalation: Diagnose and resolve complex issues involving PLCs, HMIs, SCADA and industrial protocols.
  • Identify and report design, reliability and maintenance problems to enable root-cause analysis.
  • Provide network and integration support across control systems and enterprise interfaces.
  • Deliver advanced troubleshooting when first-line support cannot resolve problems.
  • Develop and deliver Field Engineering training materials and guides.
  • Serve as technical liaison to customers for operation and configuration guidance.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards and advise on best practices.
  • Update knowledge management resources and share insights with global teams.
  • Stay current with emerging control technologies and apply them to support practices.
