Job summary

ICON in Austin, TX is seeking a Controls Engineer II to design, maintain, and enhance diagnostic infrastructure, telemetry dashboards, and predictive maintenance models for the fleet. You will serve as the escalation point for complex controls failures and support Field Engineering and customer teams.

You will diagnose PLC/HMI/SCADA issues, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and develop training and technical notes to empower teams and customers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, control systems engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in industrial automation or control systems support.
  • Strong working knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems and control network protocols.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose hardware, software and communication issues in control systems.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and standards for industrial control systems.
  • Excellent communication and customer‑service skills; ability to manage customer expectations and document resolutions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams and maintain composure under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve complex PLC/HMI/SCADA issues and related protocols.
  • Identify and report design and maintenance problems for root‑cause analysis.
  • Support control system networking and integration with enterprise systems.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting for malfunctioning control systems.
  • Develop and deliver training materials for Field Engineering on operation and maintenance.
