Job summary

Gradian Thermal Solutions in Maple Grove, MN is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to own end-to-end controls architecture for MAS HVAC’s liquid cooling and air movement products. You will lead design, validation, commissioning support, and field issue resolution, partnering with product engineering, manufacturing, quality, and sales.

You will define platform standards, create verification plans, mentor engineers, and drive process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive controls engineering experience and ownership of complete system deliveries.
• Experience designing control systems across full lifecycle with disciplined engineering practices.
• Strong industrial networking knowledge (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, BACnet) and third-party device interoperability.

Responsibilities

• Own the controls technical scope for assigned programs translating requirements into robust control architectures.
• Define and maintain platform standards for PLC/HMI, I/O, panels, networks, alarms, and libraries.
• Lead detailed design and implementation including narratives, sequences, BOMs, and software development.
• Establish verification plans; lead testing for bench, prototype, and system-level validation.
• Escalation point for complex troubleshooting; perform root-cause analysis and drive corrective actions.
• Ensure electrical and safety compliance; participate in design reviews and hazard assessments.
• Coordinate cross-functional execution with mechanical, refrigeration/thermal, manufacturing, and suppliers; manage risks.
• Improve engineering documentation quality and drive process improvements; mentor staff and influence roadmaps.
