Job summary

Gradian Thermal Solutions in Maple Grove, MN, is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to design, integrate, and program advanced control systems for chillers and heat rejection equipment. You will lead architecture decisions, select hardware, write software, and mentor junior engineers on cross-functional projects.

Experience with PC/PLC/HMI programming, AutoCAD and Visio, and protocols like Modbus, BACnet, and Ethernet/IP is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in control systems engineering, preferably with OEM products.
• Experience designing electrical schematics using AutoCAD and Visio.
• Ability to develop control algorithms for PC, PLC, and HMI platforms.
• Experience with Modbus TCP/RTU, BACnet, Ethernet/IP.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and integrate control systems for chillers and heat rejection equipment.
• Develop control system architectures, hardware selection, and software logic.
• Program control sequences (compressor staging, fan/pump control, etc.).
• Test on benches and prototypes; troubleshoot and debug.
• Document engineering drawings and specifications; ensure on-time delivery.
