Job summary

VetClaims.ai seeks a highly experienced Controller to lead accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls and compliance. Reporting to CFO, this role requires 10+ years in progressive accounting and strong GAAP expertise within a growing, multi-department organization.

The Controller will manage payroll entries, financial close, and provide executive financial insights. The ideal candidate demonstrates strategic thinking, precision, and the ability to implement scalable processes

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
• Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, general ledger management, accounting operations, and internal controls.
• Extensive knowledge of GAAP and applicable accounting standards.
• Experience managing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present financial information to executive leadership.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, meet critical deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger management, accounts payable/receivable, and reconciliations.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure timely reporting.
• Oversee preparation and maintenance of financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow).
• Ensure GAAP compliance and integrity of financial records.
• Develop and maintain internal controls and procedures; coordinate external audits and tax prep.
• Oversee payroll-related accounting entries and compensation allocations.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis for strategic planning.
