Job summary

Qualified Health is seeking a startup-focused Controller to own the integrity of financial close, the accuracy of actuals, and scalable infrastructure. You will work to keep GAAP-compliant statements audit-ready and drive a tight link between forecasts and actuals for leadership and investors.

You will design lean processes, decide what to automate, and partner with People Ops for payroll while coordinating with external auditors and tax advisors.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years in accounting or controllership, startup exposure preferred.
• CPA strongly preferred; healthcare accounting experience a plus.
• Deep GAAP fundamentals applied to a scaling org.
• Solid experience with ASC 606 in SaaS or recurring revenue.
• Proven diligence experience (venture/audit).
• Design processes that are lean, well-documented and scalable.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly and quarterly close end-to-end, fast and clean.
• Oversee treasury: banking, runway, cash controls.
• Maintain GAAP-compliant statements with audit-ready documentation.
• Own revenue recognition for SaaS products.
• Manage payroll for semi-monthly exempt staff with People Ops.
• Handle vendor/contractor payments and payroll-related accruals.
• Maintain actuals infrastructure including Brex and reconciliation.
• Support forecasting loop with variance analysis and risk flags.
• Lead relationships with auditors, tax advisors, and accounting firms.
• Assist board reporting and investor due diligence with clear financials.
• Evaluate accounting systems; decide what to build vs buy.
• Design and own end-to-end AP/AR processes.
