Retif Oil & Fuel, L.L.C. seeks an experienced Controller to own the accounting function end to end and lead the close, GAAP reporting, and internal controls. You will redesign processes for scale, deliver monthly leadership packages, and partner with business leaders to explain variances and trends.

We value hands-on leadership, mentoring staff, and driving system improvements across ERP. This is a growth-focused opportunity in a large southeast distributor with strong community ties.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years in a Controller role (or Assistant Controller with ownership of the close)
• 5+ years of total progressive accounting experience
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• Solid command of GAAP and financial statement preparation
• Advanced Excel and Microsoft 365 skills (Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
• Hunger to learn, take on more complexity, and grow into a bigger leadership role

Responsibilities

• Own the accounting function end to end. Lead the close, GAAP reporting, controls and hold the team to a high, consistent standard.
• Build for scale. Redesign processes, policies, and controls so finance keeps up as we grow.
• Deliver trusted reporting. Prepare GAAP financial statements and clear monthly reporting packages for leadership.
• Partner with the business. Explain variances and trends to department leaders and help them act on the numbers.
• Manage cash and capital. Oversee cash forecasting, banking relationships, and debt covenant compliance; support financing activity as needed.
• Manage audits and tax. Serve as point person for external auditors and tax advisors.
• Lead and grow the team. Supervise and coach accounting and finance staff.
• Level up our systems. Improve how we use our ERP, automate manual work, and build reporting that scales.
