Job summary

Retif Oil & Fuel is seeking a Controller to own the accounting function end‑to‑end. You will lead the close, GAAP reporting, controls, and scale finance as the company grows, partnering with department leaders to interpret variances and drive actionable insights.

You will oversee cash forecasting, audits, and tax activities while mentoring the accounting team and enhancing ERP systems. Strong GAAP knowledge and Excel skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years in a Controller role (or Assistant Controller with ownership of the close)
• 5+ years of total progressive accounting experience
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• Solid command of GAAP and financial statement preparation
• Advanced Excel and Microsoft 365 skills (Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
• Hunger to learn, take on more complexity, and grow into a bigger leadership role
• CPA, or actively working toward it
• Public accounting (audit) experience
• Experience in transportation and logistics, ideally with a tank truck or bulk liquid carrier
• Experience in a fast‑growing or changing business
• Experience improving a process or implementing a system
• Experience supervising or mentoring staff
• Experience with Power BI or SQL for reporting and data analysis

Responsibilities

• Own the accounting function end to end, lead the close and GAAP reporting
• Build for scale by redesigning processes, policies, and controls
• Deliver trusted reporting with clear monthly leadership packs
• Partner with the business by explaining variances to leaders
• Manage cash forecasting, banking relationships, and debt covenant compliance
• Lead audits and tax processes with external advisors
• Summarize and mentor staff, and improve ERP usage
• Stay hands‑on and drive scalable reporting across growth
