Job summary

Corgi, a San Francisco-based fintech startup, seeks a Controller to own the accounting function, secure GAAP-compliant books, and lead the monthly close under the CFO and Head of Accounting.

You will manage GL, AR/AP, payroll, asset accounting, and internal controls, scale accounting systems, coordinate audits, and collaborate with leadership on budgeting and forecasting as the company grows.

Qualifications

• CPA certification and 7+ years accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience leading a monthly close and cross-functional accounting operations.
• Experience coordinating with external auditors and tax advisors.
• Ability to manage a growing accounting team.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day accounting operations and general ledger.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Prepare and review monthly and quarterly financial statements and reports.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, expenses, and reconciliations.
• Ensure accurate recording of accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, depreciation.
• Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate audits and tax filings with external advisors.
• Partner with finance on budgeting and forecasting.
