Job summary

GT Independence, LLC is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting organization and ensure CFO-ready financial results across close, reconciliations, and reporting. You will build scalable processes, develop managers, and partner with executive leadership, CFO, and private equity stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.

The role emphasizes ownership, GAAP expertise, and the ability to challenge assumptions while driving disciplined execution and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience including leadership roles.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, month-end close, reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, internal controls, and audit support.
• Experience leading a multi-entity close in a complex environment.
• Experience managing accounting teams and building scalable processes.
• Strong audit readiness and external audit experience.
• Experience with private equity or sponsor-owned environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the accounting function and own the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of the company's financial results.
• Set clear expectations for accounting managers and team members, including deadlines and standards.
• Ensure close, reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, AP, cash operations, reporting support, and audit readiness.
• Lead month-end close process and ensure CFO-ready financial statements.
• Identify and resolve close bottlenecks and recurring issues; improve timeliness and accuracy.
• Strengthen internal controls and audit readiness; partner with CFO and auditors.
• Develop managers, build scalable processes, and drive continuous improvement across the function.
