SHR Talent is partnering with a privately held, growth-oriented organization in its search for a Controller.
The Controller will serve as a key member of the finance leadership team and will be responsible for leading the organization's accounting function while strengthening the processes, systems, and financial infrastructure needed to support continued growth.
This is a highly visible opportunity for a hands-on accounting leader who can balance strategic leadership with a willingness to work in the details. The Controller will partner closely with executive leadership and operations while helping professionalize and scale the accounting function within a dynamic, evolving organization.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a multi-entity, multi-location, or acquisition-driven environment and will be comfortable joining an organization where there is significant opportunity to improve processes, reporting, systems, and controls.
Responsibilities:
- Lead all aspects of the accounting function, including month-end close, general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Oversee accounting activities across multiple entities and operating locations
- Develop and maintain scalable accounting policies, procedures, processes, and internal controls
- Partner with executive and operational leadership to provide meaningful insight into financial performance
- Lead and improve the organization's monthly close and reporting processes
- Support the financial integration of newly acquired businesses and entities
- Participate in acquisition-related accounting, due diligence, and post-close integration activities
- Oversee consolidations and ensure consistency in accounting practices across the organization
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting, automation, efficiency, and financial visibility
- Support continued development and optimization of the organization's financial systems and technology
- Manage, mentor, and develop members of the accounting team
- Coordinate annual audit, tax, and other external reporting requirements
- Investigate accounting and financial issues and proactively develop solutions
- Help build an accounting infrastructure capable of supporting significant future growth
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience with demonstrated leadership responsibility
- Previous Controller, Assistant Controller, Director of Accounting, or similar leadership experience preferred
- Experience within a multi-entity, multi-location, or acquisition-driven organization strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, month-end close, consolidations, and internal controls
- Experience supporting acquisitions and integrating newly acquired businesses is highly desirable
- Proven experience developing and improving accounting processes and controls
- Experience leading and developing accounting teams
- ERP implementation, conversion, or optimization experience is a plus
- Strong analytical and investigative mindset with the ability to identify issues and develop practical solutions
- Ability to communicate effectively with executive leadership, finance professionals, and operational leaders
- Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and growth-oriented environment
- Ability to operate strategically while remaining willing to roll up their sleeves and work in the details
