Job summary

Vessel Technologies, Inc. in New York City is seeking an exceptional Controller to build and lead the accounting function for a technology company reinventing a legacy industry.

You will report directly to the CEO, lead a small team, design policies, own the monthly close, and oversee inventory, cost accounting, and project accounting. The role partners with lenders, investors, and executives to drive growth and financial discipline.

Qualifications

• CPA with substantial progressive accounting experience.
• Experience in manufacturing cost accounting and audit preparation.
• ERP systems experience; familiarity with NetSuite and multi-entity accounting.
• Experience managing a small team.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead Vessel's accounting organization, beginning with an existing team of two.
• Establish accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls that support growth.
• Own the monthly close and deliver accurate, timely financial statements across corporate and project entities.
• Develop and maintain inventory, work-in-process, manufacturing cost, and project accounting systems.
• Establish reporting and analytical tools to help management understand product and operations economics.
• Lead audit preparation and support reporting and diligence requirements for lenders and investors.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and cash reporting.
• Work directly with the CEO and other leaders to provide financial insight into operating decisions.
• Help select, implement, and improve technologies powering financial operations.
• Build the team, systems, and financial disciplines for national-scale operations.
