Description du poste

Help us build a company that changes how the world builds.

At Vessel, we believe the future isn't about building better. It's about better buildings.

For generations, nearly every product in our lives has benefited from extraordinary advances in design, engineering, and manufacturing. Cars. Computers. Phones. Each generation gets better, more capable, and more affordable.

But buildings have been left behind.

Vessel is changing that.

We're a New York City–based technology company reimagining the building as the ultimate consumer product. By bringing together advanced design, engineering, and manufacturing, we're creating buildings that are dramatically more efficient to produce, remarkably simple to operate, and extraordinary to experience.

Our first product, Calypso, is an entirely new kind of apartment building, designed to help overcome the housing crisis and make extraordinary homes attainable for working people.

Backed by institutional investors including Lennar, we're building something we believe can fundamentally transform one of the world's largest industries.

And we're looking for exceptional people who want to help make it happen.

The opportunity

We're looking for an exceptional Controller to build and lead the accounting function of a technology company reinventing one of the world's oldest industries.

We design products. We manufacture them. We deploy them on construction sites. And we're developing the systems to do all of this at national scale.

That creates an extraordinary opportunity for someone who wants to do more than manage an accounting department.

You’ll help design the financial infrastructure of the company itself.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll lead a small team, establish the policies and systems that support our growth, and ensure that our financial reporting meets the standards expected by sophisticated investors, lenders, and auditors.

This is a hands‑on leadership role with substantial autonomy, visibility, and responsibility.

Who you are
  • A builder. You love creating systems, establishing processes, and making organizations work better. You're energized by the opportunity to build something rather than inherit it.
  • An exceptional accountant. You have a deep command of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and the disciplines required to maintain accurate books.
  • Fluent in manufacturing economics. You understand inventory, work in process, standard costing, and the financial mechanics of manufacturing operations.
  • Comfortable with complexity. Multiple entities, intercompany transactions, project accounting, and evolving business models don't intimidate you.
  • Technologically ambitious. You're an enthusiastic adopter of new technologies, including AI, and constantly look for ways to make financial processes smarter, faster, and more reliable.
  • A hands‑on leader. You're equally comfortable developing a team, designing a reporting system, and personally resolving a difficult reconciliation.
  • Intellectually curious. You ask why things work the way they do and aren't afraid to challenge conventional practices.
  • Entrepreneurial. You understand that in a rapidly growing company, the right answer isn't always in a manual. Sometimes you have to invent it.

You should be a CPA with substantial progressive accounting experience, including manufacturing cost accounting, audit preparation, ERP systems, and managing a small team. Experience with NetSuite, multi‑entity accounting, and consolidations is particularly valuable.

Above all, we're looking for exceptional intellect, sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, and the determination to build something extraordinary.

What you'll do
  • Build and lead Vessel's accounting organization, beginning with an existing team of two.
  • Establish the accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls that will support our growth.
  • Own the monthly close and deliver accurate, timely financial statements across our corporate and project entities.
  • Develop and maintain robust inventory, work‑in‑process, manufacturing cost, and project accounting systems.
  • Establish the reporting and analytical tools that help management understand the economics of our products and operations.
  • Lead audit preparation and support reporting and diligence requirements for lenders and investors.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and cash reporting.
  • Work directly with the CEO and other leaders to provide financial insight into important operating decisions.
  • Help select, implement, and continuously improve the technologies that power our financial operations.
  • Build the team, systems, and financial disciplines required to support a business operating at national scale.

$190,000 - $200,000 a year

  • Performance bonus: Annual bonus opportunity recognizing individual contributions and company performance.
  • Meaningful equity ownership: Participation in Vessel's employee stock option program, giving you the opportunity to become an owner in a company working to transform an entire industry.
  • Health and wellness: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Retirement: Access to a 401(k) retirement savings plan.
  • Paid time off: Competitive vacation, holidays, and paid leave.

We want the people who help build Vessel to participate in what they create. That's why equity isn't an afterthought in our compensation philosophy. It's an important part of the opportunity.

We're not looking for someone who simply wants the next step in a conventional accounting career.

We're looking for someone who wants to help build a consequential company.

At Vessel, you'll work directly with the founder, have genuine authority to shape your function, and participate in the ownership of the business you're helping create.

Compensation includes a $190,000–$200,000 base salary, annual performance bonus, and a meaningful equity grant.

Our mission is simple: to overcome the housing crisis and offer each person the opportunity for an extraordinary life.

We believe accomplishing that mission requires people with exceptional curiosity, imagination, intellect, and tenacity.

If that sounds like you, we'd like to hear from you.

Vessel Technologies is an equal opportunity employer.
