Senior Controller at CREDE

The Senior Controller is the senior financial leader responsible for the organization’s financial health, long-range financial strategy, and operational integrity. The Senior Controller oversees planning, reporting, risk management, and compliance while mentoring a team of 2-3 direct reports. This leader drives clarity, accountability, and strong financial discipline across the business.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy and Planning
  • Build and manage the company’s financial strategy in alignment with business goals.
  • Lead long-term planning, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Advise on mergers, acquisitions, capital investments, and funding strategies.
  • Provide leadership with financial insights and recommendations to meet company targets.
Financial Operations
  • Manage cash flow, treasury, liquidity, and cash forecasting.
  • Oversee accounting functions, including AP/AR, billing, payroll, GL, and financial reporting.
  • Lead month-end and year-end closes and deliver financial statements and management reports.
  • Coordinate external audits and tax filings; implement improvements from audit findings.
  • Maintain all state registrations, licenses, and compliance filings.
  • Manage banking and credit relationships to ensure adequate liquidity.
  • Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX, SEC standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Oversee insurance coverage with the CEO.
Leadership and Collaboration
  • Mentor and develop finance staff and oversee workload and accuracy.
  • Partner with executives to align financial and operational goals.
  • Present results, dashboards, and strategic recommendations to the CEO, COO, board, and investors.
Performance Analysis
  • Analyze operations for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Track KPIs to monitor performance and progress.
Technology and Systems
  • Oversee financial systems for scalability and reliability.
  • Use analytics tools to enhance decision-making.
Corporate Governance
  • Uphold ethical financial practices.
  • Support ESG reporting when applicable.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education and Certifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Economics required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • CPA, CFA, CMA, or similar credential preferred.
Experience and Technical Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years of senior-level financial management experience, ideally in construction or project management consulting.
  • At least 5 years in a senior leadership role preferred.
  • Background in Controller, Finance Director, or similar finance leadership roles.
  • Proven strategic planning, financial modeling, and operational finance experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and IFRS.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory compliance, budgeting, forecasting, and risk management.
  • Experience with M&A, capital planning, and financial due diligence.
  • Strong ERP and financial systems skills; Sage Intacct preferred.
  • Advanced Excel capability including pivot tables and financial modeling.
