Job summary

AXA XL is seeking a Senior Underwriter for Group Captives- Construction in the United States. You will tailor high-touch risk solutions for large contractors within the Group Captive marketplace, partnering with industry experts on Workers' Comp, General Liability, and Automobile coverage. The role reports to the Underwriting Manager, Group Captives.

Travel about 25% is required. You will review submissions, work with agents and brokers, calculate premiums, and coordinate with claims and risk

Qualifications

Advanced Construction/Commercial Underwriting experience.
Deep underwriting expertise for construction managers, general contractors, and subcontractors.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent interaction with insureds and brokers to promote products.
Strong written and oral communication for internal teams and brokers.
Outstanding organizational, time-management, and multi-tasking skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Bachelor's degree; CPCU/IIA/CRIS preferred but not required.
Willingness to travel ~25%.

Responsibilities

Reviewing submissions including applications, policy wording, inspection reports, loss runs, and financial reports while conducting appropriate research to determine degree of risk for each account.
Working with agents and brokers on targeting accounts which are best in class contractors.
Calculating appropriate risk premiums using various guaranteed cost and loss sensitive options.
Proactively advising, assisting, servicing and following up with clients on insurance and risk management matters.
Effective relationship management with customers and brokers.
Controlling timely implementation of new and renewed accounts according to quality standards.
Working closely with claims and risk engineering team to provide value added services to prospects and clients.
Negotiating and working on facultative reinsurance transactions as needed
Working with the other underwriters in team on cross marketing goals and objectives.
