Job summary

The City of New York's Department of Design and Construction, Public Buildings Division, seeks a Senior Project Manager to lead complex capital projects from inception to close-out. You will develop cost estimates, set schedules, supervise design and construction staff, and coordinate with Sponsor Agencies to ensure scope and vision are achieved.

Ideal candidates have extensive experience in construction project management, strong organizational and communication skills, and relevant licensure

Qualifications

• Four-year high school diploma and five years of full-time construction project management experience with projects costing at least $300,000.
• Bachelor’s degree plus one year of qualifying experience as described in the first item.
• A valid PE/Architect/Landscape Architect license qualifies.
• Candidates should have at least six years of experience with complex design and construction project management.
• Ability to manage multiple multi-trade projects, strong organizational and written/verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex capital projects from inception to close-out, including scope definition and supervision of design/construction staff.
• Generate cost estimates and establish deliverable dates and schedules to ensure timely, cost-effective completion.
• Review change orders and project estimates; monitor safety, progress, and contractor performance.
• Prepare reports, attend meetings, and coordinate with Sponsor Agencies and vendors to achieve project goals.
• Mentor and supervise Project Managers and Junior Project Managers.
