Job summary

Wharton-Smith, Inc., a respected Southeast General Contractor, seeks a Senior Project Manager for projects in Brevard and Indian River County, FL. This role leads multi-project oversight, client relationships, and project teams to ensure successful execution and financial performance.

The Senior Project Manager mentors Project Managers, supports business development, and drives continuous improvement across operations. Willingness to travel and work on-site at project locations is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of construction management experience.
• Proven experience leading large-scale construction projects or managing multiple concurrent projects.
• Strong leadership, operational management, financial oversight, and business development capabilities.
• Extensive knowledge of construction operations, scheduling, budgeting, cost control, and procurement processes.
• Strong understanding of contract administration, risk management, financial forecasting, and project financial reporting.
• Proficiency in CPM scheduling software, construction management platforms, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to mentor, coach, and develop employees at varying levels of experience.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead multidisciplinary teams in fast-paced environments.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with executive stakeholders.
• Experience preparing presentations, qualification packages, and project reports.

Responsibilities

• Oversee multiple projects or large-scale construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to Project Managers and teams.
• Monitor project financial performance: budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, cost control.
• Develop executive-level relationships with clients and partners.
• Support business development, project pursuits, and contract negotiations.
• Lead resolution of disputes, claims, and contractual issues.
• Drive process improvements and best practices across teams.
• Support staffing, resource planning, and succession planning.
• Monitor schedules, procurement, quality control, and safety across projects.
• Provide executive reporting and operational updates to senior leadership.
• Represent the company at industry events and client functions.
• Develop future leaders by mentoring and fostering accountability.
