Job summary

MWH Constructors in Sacramento, CA, seeks a Construction Manager to lead mechanical construction activities on water and wastewater projects. You will coordinate with owners, engineers, and field teams to ensure safety, quality, and on-time delivery.

You will oversee project staff and consultants, manage procurement, bid, pre-construction, construction, commissioning, start-up and close-out, and help pursue new business opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical or electrical engineering, construction management, or equivalent.
• 12+ years' experience managing municipal water and/or wastewater infrastructure projects.
• 8+ years' management experience including client interface, marketing and business development, planning and execution, staff supervision.
• CCM or PMP certification (or willingness to obtain within 12 months).
• Thorough knowledge of construction, union jurisdiction, labor agreements and negotiations.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, supervisory and planning skills.
• Strong business acumen and project P/L experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee process mechanical operations in water and wastewater projects from start to finish.
• Interface with client, oversight representatives, regulatory agencies for development and execution.
• Make decisions to improve client relations and project profitability.
• Develop new business opportunities for a geographic area.
• Coordinate with client, consultants and contractors to facilitate construction activities.
• Ensure adherence to client, company and project policies and procedures.
• Provide oversight to construction management, contract administration, planning/execution, scheduling review, change orders and QA.
• Monitor project schedule and budget.
• Evaluate contractor cost proposals and develop preliminary estimates.
• Lead and supervise project staff and consultants.
• Authorize purchases and change requests within signature authority.
• Implement company safety program and ensure safe work practices.
• Attend industry networking events.
