Job summary

Accura Engineering & Consulting Services, Inc. seeks a Sr. Construction Inspector for a client project in Atlanta, GA.

You will conduct daily site visits, monitor roadway and bridge construction, and ensure compliance with contract specifications. You will mentor junior staff, prepare written reports, coordinate with IQF and the Developer, and verify materials sampling and testing under the CQAP. This role requires solid knowledge of GDOT-like standards and the ability to work in varying field

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology with 3 years of progressive roadway and bridge construction inspection experience; or
• Associate degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology with 8 years of progressive roadway and bridge construction inspection experience; or
• High school diploma or equivalent with 15 years of progressive roadway and bridge construction inspection experience as an employee or OV for a State Highway Agency; or an equivalent combination of training and related experience.
• Experience in transportation construction inspection including heavy civil, bridge and roadway projects.
• Thorough knowledge of specifications and standards, acceptable construction practices, materials, methods, and equipment used in highway and bridge construction.
• Proficient in mathematics (algebra, geometry, trigonometry).
• Experience reading complex construction plans and reports (BFI, pile driving, drilled shafts).
• Experience working independently and making informed field decisions.
• Commitment to safety practices in construction environments.

Responsibilities

• Proactively identify deficiencies in roadway and bridge construction and communicate adjustments to meet contract specs.
• Conduct daily site visits to monitor work-in-progress and ensure materials/workmanship meet project specs.
• Mentor junior team members and review their work for QA.
• Provide specialized inspections and written reports for bridge construction and OV activities.
• Supervise junior technicians performing OV audits and inspections.
• Act as SME on Developer activities including remediation and repair reviews.
• Monitor on-site construction activities and inspect materials per plans and specifications.
• Oversee sampling/testing verification under CQAP and maintain documentation.
• Coordinate with IQF to resolve issues and ensure timely QA data entry into the Materials database.
• Ensure material certification requirements are met for Final Acceptance.
• Attend pre-activity meetings with Developer’s Contractor and IQF.
