This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Construction Inspector based out of our Raleigh office. Be involved in projects with our Construction Engineering and Inspection Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact

• Examine and interpret construction plans, schedules and quantities.
• Support engineers in functional areas such as construction inspection, surveying and material sampling and testing.
• Provide guidance to lower level inspectors.
• Verify that work is performed safely and in accordance with the project plans and specifications.
• Perform a wide variety of standardized and non-standardized tests and assignments in compiling, analyzing, computing, editing and processing field data.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) diploma required. Associate's degree in a related field preferred.
• 7 years or greater of NCDOT roadway inspection and testing experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Engineering Interns (EI) may be eligible for this position without experience.
• The ability to attain the following certifications within 90 days +/- or as class scheduling allows: NCDOT Concrete Field Technician certification, NCDOT Conventional Density certification, Level II Erosion & Sediment Control/Stormwater certification, NCDOT QMS Roadway Technician certification, NCDOT ABC and Borrow Pit Sampling certification.
• Occasional lifting of equipment up to 60 lbs.
• Performing physical activities required of the testing and inspection procedures including squatting, bending, lifting, climbing and traversing difficult terrain.
• Ability to keep accurate records and compute field data.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans.
• Good communication skills, both oral and written.
• Basic computer skills.
• The ability to complete work assignments independently.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in closely related discipline is preferred.
• Essential professional licensure/certification.
