Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII, seeks an experienced engineer to plan, design, and oversee the construction of new or expanded facilities at our Newport News site.

This role requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program and 9 years of relevant exempt experience (Master's 7 years; Ph.D. 4 years). You will manage design, cost estimates, contractor oversight, and ensure standards across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• US Citizenship may be required for certain positions.
• Bachelor degrees may include Construction Engineering, Project Management or Construction Management as substitutes.

Responsibilities

• Plans, designs and oversees construction of facilities and prepares plans, specs and schedules.
• Obtains and supervises outside contractors and recommends design procedures.
• Manages design, cost estimates, quality control and startup documentation.
• Coordinates multiple projects with stakeholders and ensures contractual compliance.
