Job summary

HII's Newport News Shipbuilding division seeks a facilities engineer to plan, design and oversee the construction of new or expanded facilities in Virginia. You will prepare architectural, engineering, and cost estimates, schedules and ensure contractor performance.

The role requires a degree in engineering and relevant experience; ABET accreditation is preferred. Candidates will coordinate with multiple stakeholders, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in engineering with 9+ years of relevant exempt experience.
• Master's Degree with 7 years of relevant professional experience.
• Ph.D. with 4 years of experience.
• ABET accredited engineering degree is required.

Responsibilities

• Plans, designs and oversees the construction of new or expanded facilities.
• Prepares architectural, engineering, and cost estimates, functional studies, construction plans, specifications, and schedules.
• Obtains and supervises outside contractors.
• Recommends design procedures and standards for planning and design of facilities.
• Supervises design, budgeting, and final inspection of facility projects.
