Job summary

HII's Newport News Shipbuilding in Newport News, VA, seeks an engineer to plan, design, and oversee new or expanded facilities. You will prepare architectural, engineering, and cost estimates, study construction plans, coordinate outside contractors, and supervise facility projects to ensure contract compliance.

Responsibilities include design reviews, cost control, safety assessments, and on-site problem resolution across multiple concurrent projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in engineering from ABET accredited program (required).
• The following Bachelor degrees may be used in lieu of an ABET Engineering Degree: Construction Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management or relevant Construction degree.

Responsibilities

• Plans, designs and oversees the construction of new or expanded facilities.
• Prepares architectural, engineering, and cost estimates, functional studies, construction plans, specifications, and schedules.
• Obtains and supervises outside contractors and ensures adherence to contractual requirements.
• Supervises detailed design, budgetary costing, standardized construction, and final inspection of facility projects.
