Job summary

PCL Construction Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced Estimator in Bellevue, WA to shape project estimates and drive competitive bids. You’ll analyze contract documents, prepare detailed takeoffs and lead proposal submissions with cross-functional teams.

You will mentor staff, collaborate across departments, and develop win strategies for complex projects. This role emphasizes accurate budgeting, risk assessment and client-focused solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in related discipline or trade experience or equivalent.
• 8 years of progressive experience in construction cost estimating, and 6–12 months of on-site experience is preferred.
• Successfully led pursuits valued at up to $150 million in various delivery methods.
• Knowledge of different construction methods; planning, scheduling, sequencing, quality, safety, and timelines.
• Extensive knowledge of bid preparation principles; quantity takeoff procedures, subtrade procurement, pricing, interdepartmental functions, and bid-closing procedures.
• Understanding of compensation models, market conditions, business trends, internal historical information and competitors to develop win strategies.
• Experience estimating multiple scopes, with the capability of building conceptual estimates.
• Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with stakeholders including soliciting subtrade partners and suppliers.
• Working knowledge of estimating software, advanced skills in Microsoft Office and adopting new technology.

Responsibilities

• Leads medium-to-large estimates or components of large estimates and is accountable for that scope.
• Conducts detailed analysis of contract documents and specifications to determine and validate overall project requirements.
• Ensures full quantity take-offs of all labor, equipment, and materials from project documents.
• Leads the development of conceptual estimate proposals and presentations to support construction management and design-build pursuits.
• Supports the estimate lead by populating tender forms and coordinating information needs for proposals.
• Conducts risk and opportunity analysis by reviewing bid-related documents.
• Assists with bid document control and archiving for transfer to the project team.
• Performs bid-day assignments and supports other estimators to close scopes.
• Coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to create site logistics, schedules, execution plans and budgets.
• Completes and presents final cost estimates and tender submissions for review and client submission.
• Establishes a critical path schedule for the estimate/pursuit and reviews work by estimators.
• Leads a team including mentoring and coaching direct and indirect reports.
