Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) seeks a Senior Configuration Analyst to support VA applications in a 100% remote role. You will lead software configuration management across development and deployment, establishing baselines and ensuring repeatable builds and compliant delivery across projects.

Responsibilities include CM tool development, mentoring developers on CM practices, and coordinating with stakeholders while ensuring quality and reliability of software delivery.

Qualifications

• Proven track record leading complex software builds/releases
• Experience in large regulated/federal environments
• Deep expertise in configuration management and release engineering
• Broad knowledge across development, QA, systems engineering, and DevOps
• Experience with CM practices (identification, baselining, change control)
• Experience with source control systems and branching/merging
• Experience with CI/CD tools and artifact repositories
• Scripting for automation in Bash/PowerShell/Python
• Experience managing COTS software and vendor patches
• IaC and environment management expertise (Ansible, Terraform)
• Knowledge of software quality standards, governance, and developer training
• Proficiency with work management/d documentation tools (JIRA, Azure Boards, Trello, Confluence, Visio, Lucidchart)
• Understanding of database concepts, dependency management, and build reproducibility
• Strong analytical skills for debugging build failures and deployment issues
• Excellent communication and stakeholder translation abilities
• Ability to mentor and manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environments
• Commitment to continuous improvement and staying current with DevOps trends

Responsibilities

• Support VA applications and migrate to the cloud
• Develop and maintain CM tools for identification, control, reporting and delivery of software including COTS
• Perform CM and release tasks to ensure compliant, repeatable builds
• Design, develop, automate, and maintain productivity tools for software modeling and development
• Design and implement build procedures to support software development and use
• Develop CM standards for company-wide use
• Train developers in CM tools and quality practices
• Provide technical guidance and solutions to complex problems
• Operate autonomously and make sound decisions
• Ensure compliant, repeatable build/deployment processes across projects
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
• Lead and train junior analysts/engineers in CM best practices
