Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Configuration Analyst for a fully remote role supporting VA programs. The position requires deep CM and release engineering expertise to manage software builds, CM tooling, and compliance across environments.

You will lead CM practices, mentor junior staff, collaborate with stakeholders, and ensure repeatable, auditable deployment processes while staying current with DevOps trends.

Qualifications

• Proven track record leading and delivering complex software builds and releases.
• Experience in large regulated enterprises or federal environments.
• Deep expertise in software configuration management and release engineering.
• Broad knowledge of development, QA, systems engineering, and DevOps.
• Experience with CM practices (identification, baselining, change control, status accounting).
• Experience with scripting for automation (Bash, PowerShell, Python).
• Experience with Infrastructure as code and environment management (Ansible and Terraform).
• Proficiency with work management tools (JIRA, Azure Boards, Trello) and documentation tools (Confluence, Visio, Lucidchart).
• U.S. Citizenship required for this specific opportunity.

Responsibilities

• Support VA applications and migrate to the cloud.
• Develop and maintain CM tools for identification, control, reporting, and delivery of software and COTS.
• Perform CM and release tasks ensuring docs, hardware configs, and logistically sustainable.
• Design, develop, automate, and maintain productivity tools for modeling and development.
• Design and implement build procedures for product development and use.
• Develop software configuration standards for company-wide use.
• Train developers in CM tools and quality standards.
• Provide technical guidance and solutions to complex problems.
• Operate autonomously and make sound decisions.
• Ensure compliant, repeatable build/deployment across projects.
• Collaborate with stakeholders.
• Lead and train junior analysts/engineers in CM best practices.
