Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC is seeking a Senior Configuration Engineer to support VA applications and lead the migration to the cloud from a fully remote position. You will develop and maintain CM tools, define standards, and ensure repeatable build and deployment processes across multiple environments.

The role requires deep CM expertise, strong DevOps skills, and the ability to mentor junior engineers while collaborating with stakeholders across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline and 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Proven track record leading and delivering complex software builds/releases in regulated federal environments.
• Deep expertise in software configuration management and release engineering.
• Experience with CM tools and scripting for automation.
• Strong knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.
• Excellent communication, mentoring, and collaboration with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support VA applications and lead cloud migration efforts.
• Develop and maintain CM tools for identification, control, reporting and delivery of software including COTS.
• Perform CM and release tasks to document and standardize build parameters across projects.
• Design, automate, and maintain productivity tools to improve software modeling and development.
• Implement build procedures for software product development and usage.
• Develop software configuration standards for company-wide use.
• Train developers in CM tools and quality practices.
• Provide technical guidance and solutions to complex problems.
• Operate autonomously and make informed decisions.
• Ensure compliant, repeatable build/deploy processes across projects.
• Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders and mentor junior engineers.
