Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC seeks a Senior Configuration Engineer to lead CM and release engineering for VA projects. Remote US-based position with migration to the cloud, CM tool development, and training responsibilities across development teams.

Responsibilities include designing build procedures, enforcing CM standards, and delivering repeatable deployment processes while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. Expertise in CI/CD, scripting, and IaC is essential.

Qualifications

• CM leadership and release engineering experience in complex environments.
• Experience with source control systems and branching/merging strategies.
• Proficiency in scripting for automation (Bash, PowerShell, Python).
• Ability to mentor and train engineers in CM practices.

Responsibilities

• Support VA applications and migrate to the cloud.
• Develop and maintain CM tools for identification, control, reporting, and delivery of software and COTS products.
• Perform CM and release engineering tasks to document, standardize, and ensure sustainable builds.
• Design, develop, automate, and maintain productivity tools to improve software modeling and development.
• Design and implement build procedures to support development and usage.
• Develop software CM standards for company-wide use.
• Train developers in CM tools and quality practices.
• Provide technical guidance and solutions to complex problems.
• Operate autonomously and meet deadlines across multiple projects.
• Ensure compliant, repeatable build and deployment processes across projects.
• Collaborate with stakeholders; mentor junior analysts/engineers.
