Job summary

Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP in Los Angeles seeks a Senior Compliance Attorney to join the Legal and Risk Management team. You will evaluate, negotiate, interpret, and implement client retention documentation, including OCGs, NDAs, and engagement terms, ensuring alignment with the firm’s ethics and risk tolerance. This hybrid role requires AmLaw 100 experience, strong communication, and superb judgment; base pay is $190k–$240k annually with benefits and a path for growth.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed in good standing in a U.S. state.
• Minimum of five years law firm experience at an AmLaw 100 firm.
• Experience handling review and negotiation of outside counsel guidelines and similar.
• Effective and succinct oral and written communication.
• Strong ethics, discretion, and professional judgment.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Review outside counsel guidelines and other client-drafted terms and advise on the Firm's ability to comply.
• Draft exceptions and responses to client engagement terms and contracts with internal stakeholders.
• Lead negotiations with Firm clients and recommend practical revisions.
• Monitor status of OCG responses and related correspondence.
• Coordinate contract version control and finalization using redline comparisons.
• Oversee client due diligence reviews and responses to information security questionnaires.
• Post and maintain client guidelines in the Intapp repository and contribute to the OCG playbook.
• Develop and train other Compliance team members and coordinate with Conflicts teams.
