Job summary

Baker Tilly is seeking a Senior to join the Compliance Advisory team to provide advisory and consulting services across governmental, tribal, private, and not-for-profit sectors with focus on grant management and compliance.

You will assess compliance needs, develop practical solutions, strengthen processes, controls, and organizational effectiveness while collaborating with clients and team members.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, public administration, or related field. Master’s in Accounting, MBA, or MPA preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience; public accounting or professional services experience strongly preferred.
• Experience serving governmental, tribal, and/or not-for-profit organizations preferred.
• Experience with grant management and compliance activities, internal control reviews or assessments, and/or internal audit.
• Experience with Single Audits and federally funded programs preferred.
• CPA, CIA, CGMA, CFE, or other relevant professional designation preferred.
• Familiarity with GAGAS/Yellow Book, Uniform Guidance, and IIA standards preferred.
• Understanding of financial, compliance, and operational environments of governmental and not-for-profit organizations.
• Ability to analyze complex issues and communicate findings clearly.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to travel approximately 20%.

Responsibilities

• Support project planning and execute grant compliance monitoring activities and review subrecipient performance and financial reporting.
• Perform and lead grant compliance reviews and develop actionable findings and recommendations.
• Perform and lead internal control reviews, internal audits, and operational assessments.
• Develop and enhance policies, procedures, processes, and internal controls.
• Prepare client deliverables including findings, recommendations, and reports.
• Collaborate with clients to understand accounting practices and develop practical improvements.
• Communicate project status and results to team and client stakeholders.
• Provide guidance to junior team members to ensure high-quality delivery.
