Job summary

Berkshire Hathaway Direct Insurance Company is seeking a Complex Workers’ Compensation Claims Specialist (Western USA) for a fully remote role. This senior position handles highly complex WC claims across multiple states, reporting to the Complex Claims Team Lead and involving collaboration with outside counsel and medical providers.

The role requires 10+ years of WC experience, an active adjuster license or SIP, and strong leadership and analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Active adjuster license required or SIP.
• 10+ years of experience handling complex workers’ compensation claims.
• Excellent organizational, leadership, communication and time management skills.
• Experience with structured settlements and Medicare Set-Asides.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, virtual office environment.

Responsibilities

• Investigate coverage, determine compensability, and manage a high exposure WC claims caseload.
• Proactively establish and update reserves throughout the life of the claim.
• Resolve claims within authority and make independent recommendations to senior leadership.
• Collaborate with outside defense counsel to manage litigated files.
• Partner with medical providers and injured workers to facilitate treatment and timely bills submission.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal WC regulations.
