Job summary

CNA Insurance seeks a Complex Claims Consultant in its Financial Lines Claims team to handle high-severity D&O and E&O claims for public companies and large financial institutions. You will review coverage, coordinate investigations, and negotiate settlements within authority limits.

The role requires deep expertise in professional liability, strong analytic and communication skills, and the ability to manage complex litigation with guidance from senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent required; Juris Doctorate preferred.
• Typically six years of relevant experience in professional liability claim handling or law firm handling professional liability matters.
• Must have or be able to obtain and maintain an Insurance Adjuster License within 90 days, where applicable.
• Negotiation experience preferred; professional designations (e.g., CPCU) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages an inventory of highly complex litigated claims with large exposures and coordinates with counsel and insureds.
• Verifies coverage, analyzes policy language, and reserves appropriately.
• Leads investigations to determine liability and damages with thorough information gathering.
• Negotiates complex settlements and may participate in mediations and settlement conferences.
• Maintains budgets, oversees resources, and ensures timely, quality claim handling across files.
• Mentors junior professionals and stays current on regulatory requirements.
