Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking a Senior Complex Casualty Claims Resolution Specialist for the Northeast Region. You will manage high-severity auto and homeowners’ liability claims, including injuries and litigation, with support from leaders, technical experts, and legal partners.

The role emphasizes expert coverage and liability knowledge, strong negotiation, and decisive judgment. It offers a hybrid work arrangement near Naperville, IL, with travel to mediation or trial sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Expert knowledge of coverage, liability, and complex claims handling procedures.
• Highest technical and complexity level claims handling.
• Knowledge of state and federal laws in the adjuster’s jurisdiction.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; 7+ years directly related experience.
• Ability to obtain proper licensing.

Responsibilities

• Manages, investigates, and resolves claims within prescribed procedures and authority.
• Recommends ultimate resolution on assigned cases in excess of authority to local claims management and Home Office.
• Identifies potential suspicious claims and refers to SIU and identifies opportunities for third party subrogation.
• Prepares for and attends trials, hearings and conferences as required.
• Communicates proactively and clearly with policyholders, witnesses, and claimants to gather information regarding claims.
• Responds to written and telephone inquiries with timely, professional status updates.
• Ensures adequacy of reserves and recommends reserve increases on cases in excess of authority.
• Collaborates on team initiatives and contributes to a culture of innovation.
