Job summary

P2S|CMTA in San Jose, CA, is seeking a Senior Commissioning Agent with deep technical expertise to evaluate and optimize building system performance on large-scale projects.

You will manage commissioning across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and related systems, review submittals, and write test procedures. The role supports LEED and other certifications; travel up to 30% and a hybrid 3 days in-office schedule are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• CxA/BCxA (CxA) or CPMP, CCP or BSC certification required.
• Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Existing Building Commissioning Professional (EBCP) preferred/required.
• Robust project and client management experience.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 30%.
• 8+ years of experience in mechanical design for commercial buildings.
• Knowledge of HVAC (airside & water side), central utility plants, plumbing/piping, electrical, fire protection, and controls/instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Manage and execute commissioning services for large and complex projects across the region.
• Primarily HVAC related; will include plumbing, electrical distribution, lighting, fire alarm, security, and nurse call systems.
• Attend meetings with design and construction teams to align goals and schedules.
• Support sustainability certifications such as LEED/B3.
• Develop value-added opportunities with business development.
• Review equipment submittals and shop drawings for design intent and test requirements.
• Perform pre-functional inspections and field observations; assist in problem resolution.
• Write and execute pre-functional and functional test procedures.
• Conduct functional testing of building MEP systems with contractors when needed.
• Coordinate retesting until issues are resolved.
• Attend regional industry conferences and stay current with new systems.
