Job summary

Berkley Surety, a Berkley Company, seeks an experienced Senior Underwriter to manage and underwrite new and renewal business from assigned agents/brokers in the primary line of business.

In this role you will drive premium volume, maintain loss ratios, and participate in planning and expense management while developing agency relationships across the territory. Travel will be involved as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4-year degree or related industry experience.
• 10+ years of Surety industry or related experience required.
• Banking or Credit Analysis background is a plus.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial statements and bonds.

Responsibilities

• Independently underwrites, assesses and manages assigned portfolio of accounts.
• Understands and executes objectives to produce budgeted results.
• Develops agency/client relationships through high visibility with agents and clients.
• Plans and travels to develop producer and account relationships; prepares memos for credit approval.
• Communicates company mission and maintains workflow with agency representatives.
• Keeps underwriting documentation accurate and up to date.
• Participates in premium budgeting and expense processes.
