Job summary

CopperPoint Insurance Companies is seeking an Executive Underwriter to drive profitable growth in our Arizona market. You will leverage advanced underwriting expertise to evaluate commercial lines, mentor junior staff, and partner with Business Development to strengthen agency relationships and achieve growth targets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• Knowledge and skills in business administration, finance at undergraduate level.
• 10+ years of commercial insurance experience required in addition to bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Advanced knowledge of insurance principles, rates, rules, forms, procedures, regulations, coverages, and business processes required.
• Advanced knowledge and/or experience with commercial lines underwriting.
• Strong sales and marketing skills which require the ability to qualify opportunities and close deals.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Analytical skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes commercial lines accounts to make sound decisions based on risk characteristics, exposure analysis, hazard recognition and controls.
• Adheres to individual authority levels.
• Prices business according to underwriting and pricing guidelines.
• Balance pricing and risk selection to balance profit, growth and producer relations.
• Communicates with agency personnel on underwriting issues including declinations, cancellations, exposure concerns and loss control survey results.
• Presents new and renewal proposals to agency personnel.
• Maintains high level of customer service internally and externally.
• Meets with agency personnel regularly to develop and maintain positive relationships.
• Collaborates with business development to hold agencies accountable for flow, hit ratio, new business and retention goals.
• Serves as resource to others for complex problems and as subject matter expert for referrals and training.
• Educates agency staff on products, services and underwriting philosophy.
• Responsible for training and mentoring less experienced underwriting team members.
• Establishes positive relationships with internal/external stakeholders through communication and collaboration.
