Job summary

First Financial Bank seeks an experienced Underwriter for Oak Street Funding in Indianapolis. You will perform credit underwriting and due diligence on commercial loans, focusing on large credits ($2.5M–$20M). Prepare memos and present for approval by Loan Committees.

Strong analytical and independent decision-making skills are essential, with potential supervision of junior staff. Role includes on-site due diligence, risk assessment, and collaboration with Sales, Servicing, and Legal to close

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of credit underwriting and/or Commercial Lending experience, with emphasis on large relationships.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or equivalent.
• Seven or more years of related experience; master’s preferred but not required.
• Ability to make independent credit decisions and supervise junior underwriters.

Responsibilities

• Perform financial analysis, risk assessment, and due diligence for Oak Street Lines of Business; review commercial loan applications and assess creditworthiness.
• Prepare and present credit memos for new/renewal requests, including large loans ($2.5M–$20M).
• Utilize lending authority to approve/decline credit requests; coordinate on-site due diligence with third parties.
• Monitor loan portfolio, ensure covenant compliance, and review collateral/tracking performance.
• Negotiate closing documentation and ensure pre-funding requirements are met.
• Provide supervision and training to junior underwriters as needed.
