Job summary

Western Alliance Bank in Costa Mesa seeks a Vice President, Commercial Underwriter to lead underwriting of complex loan requests across working capital, CRE, and term loans. You will collaborate with lending officers to assess risk, review structures, and prepare credit memos for senior management.

Mentorship of junior analysts is possible. The role requires strong banking knowledge, regulatory acumen, and superior communication skills, with a focus on accurate credit analysis and risk

Qualifications

• 6+ years of related experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• Advanced knowledge of general banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management and/or other commercial banking products and services.
• Advanced knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
• Advanced speaking and writing communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite complex loan requests and renewals for working capital lines, commercial real estate loans, term loans, and other lending products.
• Build relationships with lending officers to address credit matters and unusual situations.
• Review loan structure, financial spreads, entities, collateral, market data and reports; prepare recommendations and memos for Credit Administration.
• Mentor junior analysts in financial analysis, loan structuring and risk mitigation.
