Job summary

Great American Insurance Group is seeking a Commercial Surety Underwriter. The position can be hybrid, with in-office three days a week, and travel within the assigned territory.

Locations include Chicago (Schamburg), IL; Cincinnati, OH; Charlotte, NC; Philadelphia, PA; Dallas (Richardson), TX; and Los Angeles (Orange), CA. Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting and 5+ years of related underwriting experience; professional certifications (AFSB, CPA, RPLU) are

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Accounting or related.
• 5+ years of related underwriting experience; progression toward AFSB, CPA or RPLU preferred.

Responsibilities

• Understand and analyze business reports required in underwriting, including credit checks, bank agreements, and financial statements.
• Responsible for risk selection/rejection, pricing, retention, growth, and profitability for their branch office.
• Assess risk quality in compliance with company guidelines.
• Review the underwriting of others and make recommendations for extending surety credit including terms and conditions.
• Develop and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Communicate effectively and stay highly organized to handle responsibilities.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and make timely, informed decisions.
• Operate with integrity and honesty; hold self and team accountable for objectives.
• Use independent judgment to support business goals and coach and develop team.
