Job summary

Great American Insurance Group is seeking a Commercial Surety Head Underwriter. The role requires regular in-office presence and travel, with Cincinnati, OH as the preferred location; other approved offices listed include Schaumburg, IL.

This leadership role will guide the Bond division's underwriting strategy and performance. The ideal candidate has 10–15 years of surety underwriting experience and at least 5 years in leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field.
• 10–15 years of surety underwriting experience.
• Minimum 5 years in leadership roles.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Financial Products Underwriting operations and improve workflow.
• Develop and implement strategic plans for the Production Underwriting team.
• Assess underwritten risk quality and volume; report insights.
• Leverage relationships with internal/external stakeholders to drive growth.
• Lead policy renewals assessments and risk mitigation opportunities.
• Ensure exceptional customer service through monitoring service levels and experiences.
• Oversee underwriting rules, rating manuals, and insurance regulations.
