Job summary

Great American Insurance Group is seeking a Commercial Surety Underwriter to join our Bond unit. The role supports underwriting, risk assessment, pricing and profitability for the branch, and develops key internal and external relationships.

Ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting with 5+ years of related experience and may pursue AF SB, CPA or RPLU certifications. The position is hybrid (in-office three days/week) with travel within the territory, including major US

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Accounting or related field.
• Progression toward certification preferred; AF SB, CPA and/or RPLU are noted certifications.

Responsibilities

• Understand and analyze business reports needed in underwriting processes (credit checks, bank agreements, financial statements).
• Responsible for risk selection/rejection, pricing, retention, growth and profitability for their branch office.
• Assess risk quality in compliance with company guidelines.
• Review the underwriting of others and make recommendations for extending surety credit including terms and conditions.
• Develop and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Communicate effectively; must be highly organized to handle a variety of responsibilities.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and make timely, informed decisions.
• Coach and develop team.
