Job summary

Cathay Bank in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced Relationship Manager to grow the commercial lending portfolio and serve as a trusted advisor to clients.

In this role you will identify new loan opportunities, negotiate terms, coordinate with underwriters, manage CCRs, review documents, and ensure a smooth closing process while maintaining high credit quality and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• U.S. college graduate with a major in a related field.
• 7–10+ years of commercial lending and banking experience with knowledge of lending regulations.
• Underwriting experience in commercial and energy lending.

Responsibilities

• Identify and bring new loan clients with annual goals.
• Negotiate and structure primary loan terms; circulate concept memo as needed.
• Prepare CCR for new loans with underwriters and staff; present CCR for approvals.
• Review loan documents for accuracy and compliance.
• Manage closing process and client experience; ensure timely actions.
• Monitor credit quality of the portfolio and risk rating.
• Identify credit quality issues and take action to minimize risk.
• Ensure compliance with bank, regulatory, and credit requirements.
• Mentor and coach junior officers and loan staff.
