Job summary

Cathay Bank is seeking an experienced Senior Relationship Manager to drive business development and manage an assigned loan portfolio. The role combines client-facing lending with portfolio oversight, ensuring quality and compliance across the loan lifecycle.

The RM will negotiate terms, coordinate with underwriters, and present credit reports to senior approval authorities, while mentoring junior staff and cross-selling bank products. This is a full-time position based in California.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of commercial lending and banking experience with knowledge of lending regulations and credit/underwriting practices.
• Strong loan negotiation experience with terms.
• Underwriting experience in commercial lending.
• Knowledge of credit policy, risk management, underwriting requirements and loan servicing.
• Cross-sell knowledge of banking products and services.

Responsibilities

• Identify and bring new loan clients with specific annual goals set by Team Manager.
• Cross-sell Bank products and services where applicable.
• Negotiate and structure primary loan terms; circulate memo before term sheet/LOI.
• Prepare CCR with underwriter and staff for new loans/ renewals/ amendments.
• Present CCR to approval authorities; RM responsible for content.
• Review loan documents for accuracy and ensure closing items are in process.
• Monitor and manage credit quality of assigned loan portfolio.
• Ensure compliance with bank and regulatory requirements; meet deadlines.
• Mentor and coach junior officers and loan staff.
